Question:
Is it true that you can take medicine for the common cold to control your incontinence?
Answer:
Decongestants and antihistamines, the types of medications found in most cold remedies, can cause users to retain urine by inhibiting the nerves that cause urination. Unfortunately, this is not helpful for the majority of patients with incontinence. I would not suggest this type of therapy without talking to your physician, as you may cause a problem that is even worse: the inability to urinate at all.
